Seven Ways to Make Your Perfume Last All Day

Nothing is more disappointing than a lovely fragrance that disappears within an hour. The good news is that application makes a huge difference.

Seven simple habits

  1. Moisturise first. Fragrance clings to hydrated skin far better than to dry skin.
  2. Use pulse points. Wrists, neck and behind the ears are warm and hold scent.
  3. Do not rub your wrists. It crushes the delicate top notes.
  4. Layer. Use a matching body lotion or a dab of attar underneath your spray.
  5. Spray the hair lightly. Hair holds scent well, but keep a little distance.
  6. Store it properly. Keep bottles away from heat, light and the bathroom.
  7. Reapply smartly. Carry a small travel size instead of over-spraying in the morning.
Where and how you apply matters as much as what you wear.

Remember that you get used to your own perfume within minutes, so a scent that seems to have faded to you is often still noticeable to others. Resist the urge to add extra sprays.
