Nothing is more disappointing than a lovely fragrance that disappears within an hour. The good news is that application makes a huge difference.
Seven simple habits
- Moisturise first. Fragrance clings to hydrated skin far better than to dry skin.
- Use pulse points. Wrists, neck and behind the ears are warm and hold scent.
- Do not rub your wrists. It crushes the delicate top notes.
- Layer. Use a matching body lotion or a dab of attar underneath your spray.
- Spray the hair lightly. Hair holds scent well, but keep a little distance.
- Store it properly. Keep bottles away from heat, light and the bathroom.
- Reapply smartly. Carry a small travel size instead of over-spraying in the morning.

Remember that you get used to your own perfume within minutes, so a scent that seems to have faded to you is often still noticeable to others. Resist the urge to add extra sprays.
